Ezer Mizion operates a bone marrow registry for persons of Jewish descent. This group of donors for bone marrow transplants numbers almost 700,000, including many members of the Israeli armed forces. It is the world’s largest pool of Jewish donors. As a member of Bone Marrow Donors Worldwide, Ezer Mizion has facilitated some 1,400 transplants.

Finding the right donor-patient match is difficult, as patients and donors must share the same ethnic background. Fewer compatible donors exist among those of Jewish descent than for those of other backgrounds; therefore, increasing the size of their registries is vital.

Bone marrow transplants treat a variety of illnesses, such as Hodgkin’s disease and leukemia. Donors can contribute the necessary stem cells by a process similar to donating blood.
